Obituary of Bernard Abbene

Abbene, Dr. Bernard on October 21, 2006, age 84 of Valencia, CA. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 8, 1922. Beloved husband of the late Laura. Loving father of Lisa Henley, Bonnie Ventsam, B. Patrick Abbene, Laura Beth Montes, Victor Abbene, Virginia (Ginger) Barickman, Alex and Michael Abbene. Cherished grandfather of 28. Devoted son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Marius Abbene. Dear brother of Lillian Albanesi, Jonell dePoto, and the late Dr. Michael and Theodore Abbene. He served in the Army Air Corp. during WWII. Bernard was a graduate of Fordham University and eventually came to teach at Fordham and Hofstra Universities. After moving to California with his family he became a professor of English and Drama at Loyola University. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Dominic RC Chapel, Anstice Street, Oyster Bay on Saturday November 4, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. Arrangements under the direction of the Oyster Bay Funeral Home.
