Imelda Henderson posted a condolence
I just heard about Uncle Herb from my cousin, Sandra Cruise. I am the daughter of Eileen Schramm's sister, Imelda Cruise-Henderson. My fondest memories of your father/grandfather are at our summer vacations in West Hurley, NY. He was the life of the party with his smile and great laugh. I hope Clinton and Jeff remember me and this message reachs the family. My sincere condolence on your loss. Imelda

What I remember most about you is your dry sense of humor. There where times when people were 'buying' your tale when I would smile and shake my head. And then that person would say 'How can you tell he's pulling my leg?'
I also remember how much you loved chocolate cherries--and where you hid them from everyone else.

Pop, you will be missed by all.I will think of you daily.
Thankyou for giving me all the wonderful experiences you shared with us all. I have so many fond memories of our tailgate lunches in Montauk. Swimming in the sound at Sound Shore and climbing the 120 or so steps to the beach and backup at the end of our day.

Cooking for Herb was always a treat. He loved and appreciated anything you made---except corn muffins! He was a wonderful man that I will miss dearly.

Dear Jeff,
A name from long ago.....I just picked up the paper today and saw the notice about your Dad. I just wanted to send my condolences to you and your family. It is never easy losing a parent and it is even harder when it is the second because now you are the "older generation" and everyone will look to you for the answers and I know I sure don't have them. You've been in my thoughts and will be in my prayers. Winnie

I miss you great grandpa and I love you very much. You're the best grandpa a kid could ever have and I will remember you forever. It was wonderful sharing a birthday with you. I hope I will see you in my dreams in my happy land. I miss you very much.
I hope you see this and think about me.

Grandpa there are no words to describe what a wonderful, caring person you are. Grandpa was such an important part of our lives. When our father was sick grandma and grandpa made sure that we were there with him as much as possible, then when he died they became and even more important part of our lives. I don't remeber much of my father but what I do remember are the summers and Christmas vacations we spent with grandma and grandpa. And mostly watching the show "are you being served" with grandpa after grandma went to bed. I have told Ronnie all about grandpa and grandma and how wonderful they were and I will continue to do so because they will always be alive in our hearts. I know grandpa is in a better place and with loved ones. We will miss you. Ronnie and I love you very much. You will always be with us. Thank you for being you, you are the best grandfather/great grandfather anyone could ask for.

My "Unkie Hub"...As my favorite comedian Bob Hope always said "thanks for the memories"
Where do I begin? Perhaps with the flashback to countless nights sleeping on the sofa in Huntington-spending weekends with you, Aunt Eileen and "the boys"...then Beth was born-I graduated from the sofa to a tent, then a pop up camper- spending summers in New Hampshire... you watched me grow up and shared every laugh and every tear.. you were always there for me, Skip, Meredith, Philip, Kyle and yes-even our dog Nibbles...you always called me Daniece or Kakie...remember when you and Skip went White River rafting-you got gout and Skip had to carry you home, my Unkie did not cut the trip short... your love for me knew no limits nor mine for you....you always made me feel special, what we have is special... The most beautiful gift anyone can give is memories...you gave all of us endless ones...you extended your love and new memories to Skip and our children... Mitchell adored you and you had so much fun together...you loved both of my parents beyond words as they did you..now instead of Skip making my Dad's brandy alexander that he promised you..Daddy can make it for you to enjoy with Aunt Eileen...I know you are with Aunt Eileen, Daddy, Mommy, Cliff, Jimmy, Rickey at one big party like we used to have here...the parties won't be the same without you here..but I will tell you this-no one has an Uncle as special, unique, fun loving, kind or funny as my Unkie Hub ..I will hold you forever in my heart.. thanks for the memories...I love you, Your Daniece Kakie
