Marissa was an incredible person who could light up any room she walked into. I was lucky to have her in my life when we became close friends and sorority sisters at Chapel Hill. I am a better person for knowing sweet Mar Mar. My heart shattered when I learned of her passing. I pray for peace and strength for her family during this difficult time. I am so saddened to hear the news of Marissa’s passing. Marissa was not only my sorority sister but also one of my best friends while we were in college. She was such a special person and I am grateful to have known her. I regret that we weren’t able to remain in closer contact as we got older and were separated by so much distance. I am praying and holding Marissa’s family and loved ones in the light. Marissa was a beautiful soul-inside and out. I will always cherish the memories of growing up alongside Marissa. Marissa and I were classmates and teammates since we were 5 years old. We played basketball with our parents as coaches, we served on student council, and we had many play dates. As teenagers, we enjoyed trips to the beach and the movies. Even when we went to different schools/colleges, we were always there for each other. Marissa was kind, gentle, loving and loyal. I am grateful to have been her friend and I wish only peace for her. May her family remember her beauty and light each day. I am so sorry for this tremendous loss. Love, Allison Herschlein
