Many years ago I coached Kevin with Saint Aidans soccer. Never met face to face with Dan but he worked with my daughter as a lifeguard. She has had only nice comments about him. As my role as Mayor of Williston Park on a few occasions I called Dan regarding various pool issues. He was always a gentleman and helpful with his knowledge. I'm sure he will be greatly missed by all especially his family. My prayers and thoughts go out to his wife, children and the rest of his family.

Dan, I can honestly say my life is richer, fuller and happier for having known you. When I start to feel bad that you are no longer here, I remind myself how lucky we were to have you. I will carry these memories for a lifetime. The magic of Christmas at your house… my Christmas parties and laughing together at the bar… Oscar night… Super “Plate” Sunday… the candle shop in Florida… the fuzzy whale purse … your “Carleton” dance… your text messages after Hurricane Sandy... I could go on and on. You added fun and laughter to every occasion you were a part of. I will be sure the kids always know that you were special not just because you were their dad, but you were cherished by everyone fortunate enough to know you. Thank you for adding so much joy to my life.

Danny,
We shared recipes and politics and wicked laughs. So glad our daughters were old enough to be part of the laughs. Sooo many funny stories, and good God you were such a storyteller: the party. the electrical outlet, the diaper.
Last Summer up on the cliffs of Donegal, we thought that everyone looked like you and Michael and Sean, so much of a handsome grandfather we never knew.
Damned if you did not embody the best of us and all we could be.

Dan, you were a bright light in this world and now you are a bright light in heaven. It seems like yesterday you were welcoming me into the family and introducing me as your cousin to all your friends. Our lives often intertwined and I cherish each memory as a gift. I will always miss your handsome face, but can see you in your beautiful children. Watch over us from heaven, and bring some order to those angels like you did here on earth at the mineola pool. Send us some signs soon.
All our love,
Susan, Kenny, Kenny and Patrick xoxo

To say you will be missed is an understatement. You were one of the first few staff members to welcome me into the Bellmore family. I have countless memories of school and phone pranks, goofing off during In-Servive classes, and exchanging glances, giggles, and eye rolls at faculty meetings. Dan you made 'Punked' a weekly occurrence before Ashton Kutcher made it part of our pop culture. I am greatful for all the wonderful dinners, special occasions and milestones that we celebrated together throughout the years. As someone with OCD when I opened your desk drawer to find your magnet man lined up little soldiers, I knew why we 'got' each other. lt brought me great pleasure to move things around in your classroom to secretly watch you feverishly put things back before the kids arrived. Amazingly, you never missed one darn item! To honor you my friend I will live each day to its fullest, remember to laugh more and complain less, and to bring more joy to my family, friends, and coworkers. Until we meet again (I'll bring the Clorox Wipes)...xo

Dan and I went to Middle school & high school together. We reconnected when we put together our 20yr reunion. I feel blessed to call him my friend! I believe Dan lived more in his 42 yrs than many do in 80+. He lived a life full of love, passion, kindness, service and so much more. I have learned so much from him & your family. The love in your home & family overflowed onto others. It was a priviledge to witness a true love affair like Dan & Jeanne! My thoughts and prayers go out to your family during this difficult time. I am smiling through my tears knowing Dan has left so much of himself behind with us. I know you will see him in every Christmas tree, in every warm fire, in every glass of wine, so many things to remind you he is still around watching over you all with love & pride. All my love to you.

Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Dan, his personality, sense of humor, and generous spirit shone through in the way people who did know him talked about him. The world was a better place for having Dan in it, and I have no doubt that his spirit will live on in the memories and actions of those who loved him. My deepest sympathy.
