David and Family:
Ijust heard of Joan's passing and am so sorry. I had a long talk with her last year and it was nice to catch up after so many years. She and Bill were so kind to me - they took me in for 4 months while I taught with Joan at Locust Valley. I have so many fond memories of both of them. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. I am glad that she and Bill are together again. Love,
Nancy

Aunt Joan enjoyed life! She had a loving and enthusiastic attitude that made her seem far younger than her years -- I will always cherish the happy memories of the many holidays we spent at the warm and welcoming home of all those Bartschers in Oyster Bay, and I know that she is with Uncle Bill & my own dear Mom, Marge. Dear Aunt Joan, a classy lady from beginning to end!

Dearest Mom... a wonderful and loving mother... a friend... a confidante... an example... a protector... You were my shining beacon of love, that I could always count on. You were always there for us. I know God's love shines upon you... I so miss you.

Grandma always had a great sense of style and I was so impressed with that from a young age. She and I shared our enthusiasm for shopping and driving a little too fast en route to said shopping! One of my favorite memories of her is when we visited one year for Christmas from FL, she PROMISED me and Keenan that it would snow for Christmas. My Dad was encouraging her to be a little less enthusiastic in case it didn't work out. But she kept swearing it would happen and going out to the porch every once in a while to check on her prediction. Late that night it began to snow, and she just smiled and said, "See?!" We then had an amazing Christmas Day experiencing sledding for the first time. Thanks for the snow and the memories, Grandma!

Joan was my brother-in -law Jack's mother and was very special to our whole extended family. I have fond memories of staying with Joan and Bill at their home in Oyster Bay. The last time I saw her Jack and I were with her at dinner and attending the theater in San Francisco. Such a beautiful lady and wonderful mother and grandmother. I know she and Bill will look over all of us. Love to you, Joan....love KB

I loved visiting as little girl and seeing her portrait over the fireplace. Aunt Joan always made me feel welcomed and loved the moment I walked into her home. Many happy times at the Bartscher home on Christmas Eve, Thanksgiving, or Easter with the family. I remember there was always so much good food! Aunt Joan always gave us classy gifts for Christmas when we were kids; things that always made me feel so grown up and sophisticated. Like once a tiny bottle of Chanel No.5 and once a silk scarf :) I remember learning about tennis from her and Uncle Bill and still think of them when I watch a tennis match on TV. She ALWAYS had a smile on her face too! Thank you for the happy memories and Rest in Peace dear Aunt Joan.

I have so many wonderful memories of Aunt Joan. She was one very special lady. I could sit for hours and listen to all the stories she knew of the Keenan family. I always wanted her to write a book. I learned so much from her. She was such a kind, loving, and generous person. She was one of the people who filled my childhood with such wonderful memories. Whenever I went to grandma and grandpas I always wanted Aunt Joan and Uncle Bill to be there!! She will be deeply missed.
