As I no longer reside in NY, having left in 1990, I am very saddened just hearing of George's passing, but it is my privilege to be able to comment on his life and the impact he had on my career. I never would have entered interventional radiology if it wasn't for George and the influence he had on me as a resident. He was always a pleasure to be around, taught me the fundamentals which I still hold dear, and made my residency years at LIJ enjoyable. Though we only had contact a few times after I left NY, I will forever have an emotional bond to George and will never forget him.

I am so sorry to hear of Dr Pillari's passing. I trained with him many moons ago as a radiology resident at the VA hospital in North port. He was a vibrant, enthusiastic and unforgettable teacher. I have been in practice for about 15 years, and just came across an article he wrote. That was my impetus for looking him up... I'm so glad I did.

Sorry to hear of his passing. I was one of his residents and never forget his competence, generosity and humanism. He was a role model to many young radiologists. May his memories be a blessing.

Dr. George Pillari was a fabulous mentor and very good friend. We shared so many laughs. He taught me so much as a resident and fellow. I had the privilege to write papers with him and his office was right next-door to mine, which made it the perfect spot at LIJ, for he always had a smile for me. I will miss him . The world has lost a wonderful physician.

40 years ago George invited me to visit him at LIJ and became a mentor to me, a college student hoping to go to medical school. His warmth generosity and professionalism had a profound influence on me then and always. Later as a medical student George counseled me like a father figure. Ultimately I followed his footsteps becoming a radiologist myself. I think of him often, will always be grateful to him and will never forget him. My deepest condolences to the entire Pillari family.

There are so many memories. Summers in Bayville. Thanksgivings in Locust Valley. They were all great. My cherished memories are years later. When Uncle George came back to visit for an anniversary or birthday and would always sit down with me for a long time and we talked about everything going on at that time. I will remember that always. He was an inspiration to our whole family. Life goes on and takes us all in different directions but Uncle George will always hold a big place in my heart. Aunt Carol, George, Michael, Karen and families, thoughts and prayers to all of you during this time. Love Debbie and family.

It was a summer in the 50’s - Sal Mineo was in Bayville
town….
I went walking down to the beach to see if he might be
around…
There I saw
my dream come true standing on the
shore…
I knew I found what I’ve been looking
for…
He told me his name I said mine and
although he wasn’t Sal
He would due just fine
I gave up my heart-it was my fate
On that day on the beach I found my soulmate
My heart will be forever yours -Your Loving Wife
