I will never forget the memories growing up next door to you, Leon and the family. Sitting on your stoop in the summer months chatting with you about my friends and boys while Dawn was playing with her Cabbage Patch doll, your backyard parties and knowing all of your extended family by name. Especially, once you introduced me to your niece, Elena. Over the years, I recall some conversations where you gave me great advice that I will never forget, one in particular that we had about two years ago. I loved how direct and honest you were and always had a lot of respect and love for you because of that. I considered you, Leon and the family so much more than neighbors-even if I didn’t see you all the time. Your girls are wonderful women, which is no surprise having you and Leon as their parents.
Cathy- Most of all, I will miss seeing you (I already do) when I visit my parents and your contagious laugh. You always did know how to make someone smile. Love you and thank you for being such a beautiful person. I am grateful to have had you in my life and I will never forget you. XO

Your laughter, smile, kindness, strong words of wisdom will always be in our hearts.
You were our friend, so close to us everyday.
We had amazing times. Summer backyard barbecues when the kids were young.
We shared birthdays, showers, parties, wedding, occasions and much more.
You welcomed us with warmth and kisses.
You raised incredible children.
Your love Leon was always the center of your life.
Sending prayers for strength and peace.
We will miss you so much.
May your memory be a blessing.
We love you Cathy.

One of my favorite memories with Cathy was decorating her Christmas tree every year. I never decorated a tree growing up, so it made me so happy to be included in this family tradition. There were ornaments dating back at least 30 years with tradition and meaning in all of them: a piece of the tree from each family member’s first Christmas, photo ornaments of loved ones past and present, and my personal favorite: a tiny little witch on a broom (with no meaning that I particularly know of). When the tree was finally finished every year, Cathy’s face would light up and she’d tell me and Sam what a good job we did. That was Cathy: so warm, so grateful, and so loving. She never let me forget how loved I was in her home. I will miss every Christmas, every kiss hello and goodbye when I come over, but mostly I will miss witnessing the unconditional love she shared with her family. We will all carry you and your love with us forever.

Although Cathy and I had not seen each other in many years, I remember as a child looking forward to seeing her and my other cousins at our grandparents' house in Malverne for the Sunday family Italian dinner. Cathy and I were the same age and we all had fun playing in and around the house, all the while waiting for the fresh, delicious dinner and dessert. I will always remember her as a fun-loving and happy cousin and playmate.

I’ll never forget her laughing thru all the dance drama. Broken arms, illnesses, she took it all so well. Laughing and saying “it’s always something!”. She taught me how to be a dance mom and I’ll never forget her. RIP Cathy. Condolences to her girls and all who loved her.

A life, no matter how short, can be measured by the love that surrounds a person. If that is the case, then Cathy's life is immeasurable. The love that her family and friends have expressed, during this difficult time, just goes to show that the love that Cathy shared with others will live on in all who knew her. To Leon, Dawn, Jaime, Samantha, Sharon, Raymond, Linda and your entire family, I hope that your beautiful memories of your wife, mother, sister, grandmother, family member help to bring you peace when you need it most. May Cathy rest in peace. Love to all. From, Cathy Stirrat

I still can’t believe your gone. I don’t know how it will be to not say hi to you when I come see my mom. I don’t know how it will be to laugh with you about memories of my dad and all the shenanigans over the years. To offer my love and support over Michael and then Rosie. I just can’t believe you are gone and I can’t even get through writing this without sobbing. Your beautiful daughters will have to carry on without you as you were their shining light. I know you are so happy to be with Michael and Rosie again. Please give my dad a big hug and kiss from me. I know he loved you so much. Please continue to watch over Leon. He is such an amazing man and father. I will always remember your infectious laugh and smile

To share a single memory would be impossible...As the oldest sister,I have 62 years of wonderful memories. My heart is heavy with loss and grief and I feel like there are no words to adequately honor her memory. What I will say is she was an incredible, beautiful, and awesome sister, a perfect friend, and one that would laugh with you and cry with you and tell you the truth if you asked her opinion. Sometimes it was better not to ask her opinion, lol. When we were younger and living at home, she made me a little crazy. I remember the time when her and her friends went into my closet (more than once) and borrowed my clothes and then put them back thinking I wouldn't know...what a brat, lol. I remember the time when we were camping and she had taken her van up a mountain road and got stuck up there. She had to walk back to get help and she looked at me and said, "Sha, I was calling you telepathically....I was hoping you would hear me." Oh how I wish she would call out to me now....Anyway, the memories go on and on...a million celebrations, our summers upstate, our daily early morning phone calls, our endless conversations. I cannot even imagine not having her in my life. She leaves behind a legacy that defines a life filled with love, strength, humor, family and friendship. I am eternally grateful that I was the big sister. On a personal note, " I love you so much Cathy-Ferraro Birk. I will still talk to you and I know you will hear me."
