Obituary of Frank C. O'Donnell

O'Donnell, Frank C. – peacefully at home on Jan. 21, 2016, age 84, of Oyster Bay, NY and N. Ft. Myers, FL. Beloved husband of the late Catherine. Devoted father of Hon. Colin F. O'Donnell-Nassau County District Court. Also survived by many cherished relatives and friends. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he became a proud US citizen, he was a union painter and paper hanger by profession. Frank worked as the butler to former NYC Mayor John Lindsey and was responsible for lighting the original Yule Log in 1966 at Gracie Mansion. After earning a degree in Psychology and Counseling at night school from SUNY-Empire State College, he worked as the Attendance Supervisor/Truant Officer at Oyster Bay High School for 26 years. Visiting Oyster Bay Funeral Home, 261 South St., Oyster Bay, NY, Wednesday 2:30-5 & 7-8:30 p.m. Interment is private.
