Steve Blank, Paul Jaffe and I wrote a paper together in January 2013, Feasibility Study of Space Based Solar Power to Tethered Aerostat Systems. He was a champion of a stepping-stone approach toward unlocking the potential of a huge source of energy, for the benefit of humanity. He was the leader of our team, propelling us forward to innovate. The best tribute I can make is to continue the work he started, while giving him full credit as the originator of key design concepts. I will miss him, and wish the best for his family, friends and other colleagues.

I worked with Dr. Blank on wireless power research. We met at a conference, hit it off, and decided to work together. We had many phone conversations, which he organized. I'm very sorry to hear of his passing.

I’ve been honored to know Dr.Blank for less than a year, collaborating with him on wireless power transfer research. He came across as a thoughtful scientist as well as a very nice, charming person. He will be sorely missed.

As a colleague of Professor Blank's, I was always impressed with his technical achievements, creativity, and willingness to help others. Even on the week he passed, he had agreed to review our research, a testament to his commitment to selflessness. I will carry many fond and lasting memories of conversations and moments with Steve, including his recounting of a magical ice skating session during off time at a conference in Montana, sharing a train journey from Baltimore to New York, the various strengths and weaknesses of different electromagnetics texts, and our many discussions about rectennas, lasers, and wireless power beaming. He was a great person, and I know I won’t be alone in missing him.

I was a student at NYIT and had the pleasure of having Dr. Blank as a teacher for 2 semesters. My time at the college was an enjoyable and memorable experience because of teachers such as Dr. Blank. I offer my condolences to the family. Dr. Blank will be missed.
